This lacquered magnolia saya is cut for a 7" (180mm) Santoku and secured with a retaining pin. The brush-on lacquer, made from natural Japanese tree sap, seals the wood against odours, stains and chips while bringing out the grain.

Made from Japanese Magnolia wood (Ho-no-ki), this blade protector is soft, moisture-resistant, and free of strong resins that could cause corrosion in carbon steel knives. The non-toxic lacquer coating further enhances its durability, offering stain, chip, and odor resistance while ensuring easy cleaning for your convenience. This protector showcases an elegant appearance that accentuates the unique beauty of the wood grain.

For added safety, a peg is incorporated to securely keep the blade and sheath in place, giving you peace of mind when storing your cherished knives. To maintain the integrity of your knife, we recommend drying it thoroughly before placing it into the saya, ensuring a snug fit that protects your blade.

This saya cover is specifically designed for Yoshihiro Knives and may not be compatible with other brands. Additionally, please note that it does not fit our Kurouchi Black forged knives.
