A saya is the traditional Japanese wooden sheath for a kitchen knife. It protects the edge from chips in a drawer or knife bag, prevents accidents, and keeps moisture off the blade. Magnolia (ho wood) is the classic material because it is soft enough not to harm the edge and resists warping.
Choose from natural magnolia, lacquered magnolia and magnetic oak saya, sized for gyuto, santoku, nakiri, petty, paring, kiritsuke, yanagi and deba knives, plus replacement safety pins. Match your saya to your knife type and blade length.
